Introduction

Beclomethasone (BEC)/Ketoconazole (KCN) is a combination of two drugs which help to treat a variety of conditions including asthma, allergies, psoriasis and dermatologic infections. BEC is an inhaled corticosteroid which suppresses inflammation in the respiratory system while KCN is an antifungal which works to inhibit the growth of fungi and bacteria.

Uses

Beclomethasone/Ketoconazole is used to treat severe asthma, allergies, and dermatologic infections. It is not used for the treatment of bacterial infections.

Mechanism of Action

Beclomethasone/Ketoconazole helps to reduce inflammation and the overproduction of certain chemicals in the body that can cause an allergic reaction. BEC works to inhibit the release of inflammatory molecules, such as leukotrienes, while KCN helps to block the growth of fungi and bacteria.

How Long Does it Take to Work?

Beclomethasone/Ketoconazole takes effect within minutes and generally begins to reduce symptoms within 24 hours.
