Rescula is used to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in adults diagnosed with glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It is used either alone or with other medications to prevent or delay the development of finding visual field loss due to elevation of IOP.Mechanism of Action
Rescula works by stimulating the production of norepinephrine within the ciliary processes of the eye. This increases the production of aqueous humor, with a consequent decrease in IOP.How Long Does It Take to Work?
Rescula begins to reduce IOP within 10 minutes of use and achieves maximum activity in 2 to 6 hours.Absorption
Rescula is rapidly absorbed after being administered into the eye in the form of a topical eye drop solution.Route of Elimination
The majority of the drug is eliminated through conjugation into inactive compounds and excreted in urine.Dosage
The usual recommended dose of Rescula ophthalmic is two drops of 0.15% solution to be administered into the affected eye(s) twice daily. The dosage should be administered 8 to 12 hours apart.Administration
Rescula is applied topically with one drop of 0.15% solution twice daily 8-12 hours apart. Clean the dropper tip by wiping it with a clean tissue before each use. Most patients experience less burning and irritation on ocular instillation if they close their eyes for 60 seconds after instillation.Side Effect
