?

Introduction

Entrizen/HCT is a combination medication containing the two active agents Losartan, an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB), and Diuretika, a diuretic. Other than their combined antihypertensive effect, this combination has no synergistic effect.

Uses

Entrizen/HCT is used to treat hypertension, reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke, heart attack, and associated complications.

Mechanism of Action

Losartan is an ARB, which blocks the angiotensin II receptor and inhibits angiotensin II-mediated Vasoconstriction and aldosterone-induced fluid and electrolyte retention. Diuretika is a diuretic that acts on the distal tubule of the nephron to increase urination and reduce sodium and chloride reabsorption, resulting in increased excretion of sodium and water, and potassium retention.

How long does it take to work?

The effects of losartan + Diuretika can be felt within 1-2 hours of taking the medication in patients with hypertension. But for the medication to have its full effect, patients need to take the medication for at least 2-4 weeks.

Absorption

Losartan is rapidly absorbed with peak plasma concentrations occurring between 1 and 2 hours after ingestion. Diuretika is less rapidly absorbed with peak plasma concentrations between 1 and 4 hours after ingestion.

Route of Elimination

Losartan is eliminated primarily unchanged in the urine and partially via biliary excretion; Diuretika is eliminated primarily in the urine as unchanged drug and metabolites.

Dosage

Entrizen/HCT is available in tablets containing Losartan 50 mg and Diuretika 12.5 mg. The recommended dose for adults is one tablet once daily. The dose may be adjusted according to the patient’s response and tolerated.
